Waffle Unlimited
Play Waffle unlimited: swap letters on a 21-letter waffle until all 6 five-letter words read correctly. Medium allows 15 swaps and can be solved in 10, and a new board is one press of Next away.
How to play the Waffle game
- 1
Tap a letter, then tap the one to swap it with, or drag a letter onto another. The grid hides six five-letter words, three across and three down.
- 2
A tile with a solid frame and a tick is in the right place and locked. A dashed frame with a ring means the letter belongs in one of its words, just somewhere else. A plain tile is not wanted in its row or column.
- 3
Count your swaps: Easy allows 12, Medium 15 and Hard 12, and every board can be solved in 6 to 10 of them. Hint makes one free swap for you.
- 4
Press Next puzzle for a new board at the same level, or switch to Daily for the board everyone gets today.

Waffle tips
- In a Waffle game, nine letters sit where a row meets a column and count toward two words at once. Settle those first, because one good swap there can help two words.
- A letter with a solid frame and a tick is locked and cannot be moved, so leave it alone and spend your swaps on tiles that are still plain or dashed.
- A dashed tile belongs in one of its words, just not here, so look for the other tile that should take its place. Waffle unlimited has no daily cap, so practise on Easy, where 12 swaps are allowed, before you try Hard.
Waffle Unlimited questions
How do you play Waffle?
The waffle is a grid of 21 scrambled letters that spell 6 five-letter words, three across and three down. Swap two letters at a time, by dragging one onto another or tapping both, until every word is right. Tiles show their state by shape: a solid frame and a tick for a letter in the right place, a dashed frame and a ring for a letter that belongs elsewhere in its word, and a plain tile for one that is not needed there.
Is there an unlimited Waffle where I can play more than one a day?
Yes. Press Next puzzle and a new waffle is made in your browser at once, at the same level. There is no daily limit and no sign-up.
Is this the original Waffle or a different site?
No. The Dles is an independent site. We wrote this version ourselves and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original game’s makers.
How many swaps do you get in Waffle, and how many does a perfect solve take?
The original gives you 15 swaps, and a perfect solve takes 10, according to Tom’s Guide and Nerds Chalk. This version sets its own limit for each level and shows what is left beside the grid: Easy allows 12 swaps and can be solved in 6, Medium allows 15 and 10, Hard allows 12 and 10.
What is the Waffle grid, and how many words are hidden in it?
The grid is a waffle shape of 21 letters that hide 6 five-letter words, as arXiv and Nerds Chalk describe the original. This version uses the same layout: a five-by-five square with four holes, where three words run across, three run down, and nine letters sit in two words at once.
Who created Waffle and when?
Waffle was created by James Robinson in 2022, according to arXiv and Nerds Chalk.
What do the green, yellow and grey tiles mean in this version?
In the original game, green, yellow and grey tiles show a letter that is in the right place, in the grid but in the wrong place, and not where it belongs. This version does not use those colours. It marks tiles with shapes instead: a solid frame and a tick for right, a dashed frame and a ring for a letter that belongs in one of its words but not here, and a plain tile for wrong.
