Size It Up Unlimited

Play Size It Up unlimited: stretch one thing until it matches its real size next to another, in 5 rounds of up to 100 points, 500 for a perfect run, and a new run every time you press Next.

How to play Size It Up

  1. 1

The thing on the left stands at its real size, and its measurement is written under it. The one on the right starts at the wrong size, and only its name and what is measured (height, length…) are shown.

  2. 2

Drag the handle on its top-right corner, or slide the ruler under the picture, until it looks right. With the picture focused, the arrow keys nudge it by 2%, and Shift with an arrow by 10%.

  3. 3

Press Lock in. The right-hand thing grows or shrinks to its real size and a dashed box keeps your guess. Within 5% scores 100, and 3 times off or more scores 0.

  4. 4

5 rounds make a run, out of 500. Press Hint to draw a band on the ruler that holds the real size, at the cost of 20 points off that round.

Size It Up tips

  • Anchor on something you know. A person is about 1.7 m, a door about 2 m, a car about 4.5 m. Ask how many of those fit in the target and set that number on the ruler.
  • Do not trust your gut on huge things. Tall towers and big animals are the ones people guess too small. A band from a Hint is worth taking if you are more than 3 times unsure.
  • Think in multiples, not in distances. The ruler counts in times the reference, so “about 10 times as big” is easier to place than “about 40 metres”.
  • Aim at 5% rather than the exact answer. Anything within 5% scores the full 100, so once the two look right, lock in.

Size It Up Unlimited questions

How do you play Size It Up?

Each run has 5 rounds. In every round two things stand on the same ground line: the reference, shown at its real size with its measurement, and a target that starts at the wrong size. Drag the target’s corner handle or the ruler until it looks as big as you think it really is, then press Lock in. The target jumps to its real size, your guess stays as a dashed box, and you see how far off you were and what it scored.

How is my guess scored in Size It Up?

Every round is worth up to 100 points, so a run is out of 500. A guess within 5% of the real size scores 100. A guess that is 3 times too big or too small, or worse, scores 0. In between, the score falls in an even line on a log scale: for example, a guess 1.4 times too small scores 73. Each Hint you use takes 20 off the most that round can score.

Is there an unlimited version of Size It Up, or only one puzzle a day?

Yes. Press Next for a new run of 5 rounds at the same level as often as you like, with no sign-up and no daily limit. Switch to Daily if you want the one run everybody gets today. Easy pairs things 1.5 to 6 times apart, Medium 2 to 15 times, and Hard 3 to 30 times.

Does it matter if I guess too big or too small?

No. Scoring is by ratio, so a guess twice the real size and a guess half of it score exactly the same. After each lock you see which way you were off, for example “1.4× too small”, so you can notice whether you lean one way.

Am I guessing the height, the length or the area?

One measurement at a time, and never the area. Every object in the game is measured one way: its height, its length, its diameter or its wingspan. The name tag under the target says which, for example “Blue whale · length”, and the reference’s tag gives its measurement in metres and feet, or centimetres and inches for small things. On Easy and Medium both things are measured the same way. Hard can set a height against a length.

Is this the original Size It Up on Magnitudle, or something else?

A different site. The Dles is an independent site. We wrote this version ourselves, with our own objects, drawings and scoring, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the original game’s makers.

Is Size It Up the same as the size comparison game I saw on Twitch and TikTok?

It may be. Size-guessing games under this name and idea turn up on several sites and in short videos, so we cannot tell which one you saw. This one is ours: 5 rounds, a handle and a log ruler, scored out of 500 by how far off you were, with a new run every time you press Next.

Is there a time limit in Size It Up?

No. Take as long as you like on every round: there is no timer on the page, and a run is scored only on how close each guess is to the real size, so waiting does not cost points. Hint is the one thing that does, at 20 points off that round.

Can I play Size It Up with the keyboard?

Yes. Click or tab to the picture, then press the right or up arrow to make the target bigger by 2%, and the left or down arrow to make it smaller. Hold Shift with an arrow for 10% steps, and press Enter to lock in your guess.

Does my best score save if I don't make an account?

Yes. There is no account to make. Your best score for each level is kept in this browser, and so are your streak and the run you are in the middle of, so a refresh puts you back in the same round. Clearing this site’s data in your browser also clears them.
